Study with an Off-Campus Partner
04/03/2024
A partnership between the ӣƵapp and a North West e-bike manufacturer is ‘supercharging’ students’ learning.
Wigan-based MiRiDER has formed a successful collaboration with the University’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, which enables students to help with prototype design and opens opportunities for possible future careers.
Adrian Midgley, Product Development Manager at MiRiDER, praised the relationship as he attended an engineering careers fair on the University’s campus.
He said: “Our collaboration is excellent and mutually beneficial. Working with the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing team here we are able to offer students live projects to work on, to help develop prototypes, opening opportunities for potential future employment.
“Our aim is to bring manufacturing back to the UK. We are very committed to using home-grown talent and it can be a challenge to find talented staff to work for us. That’s why this collaboration with the ӣƵapp is crucial.”
MiRiDER donated one of its folding e-bikes to the University as part of the collaboration, when it exhibited at the careers fair on campus this week.
Elliot Downs, Technical Lead, at the University’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, said: “The partnership with MiRiDER is fantastic for our students and we are very proud of it.
““It will allow us to use a real-world product for the application of exciting new design and manufacture methodologies in the world of advanced manufacturing.
“We can integrate this into the modules we teach, such as design for advanced manufacturing, which gives students real-world applications to enhance learning.”
